FMS # 357 and Color Throwdown #513

Hi all! I rarely combine challenges but this is a crazy busy week for me and I only have time for one!  I also rarely stray away from using SU! stamps only in my challenges but for some reason this stamp set - Ornaments4Christmas from The Stamps of Life immediately came to mind when I saw the sketches for both challenges.  I was also prepping for a class in a few weeks and had cut this DSP for those cards and I knew it would also work for the CTD challenge.  So here it is!

"Christmas" die  SU Merry Christmas thinlits

Color Throwdown #511

The SU! Hold on to Hope stamps and the Cross of Hope Framelits dies were used for this card.  I found this color scheme to be a bit of a challenge. But isn't that what this is all about?  In the end, I was pleased with how it came out. The round die is from the Spot of Tea set.

Paper:  Petal Pink
Berry Burst
Blushing Bride

The flowers were colored with Stampin' Write markers Petal Pink, Granny Apple Green and Calypso Coral.

Color Throwdown #510

New stamps to use! What fun! That is one of the things that I like best about doing challenges - an opportunity to play with new treasures!  The buffalo check stamp is in the 2018 Holiday Catalog along with the Wish You Well stamp set (the wreath and bow)  The sentiment is from the Country Home stamp set, also in the holiday catalog.

I inked the buffalo check stamp with Calypso Coral and stamped it on Pumpkin Pie - love the contrast!  I see this becoming a well loved stamp!

The minute I saw this sketch I thought "washi tape"!!! Though my heart remains true to Stampin' Up! I do support other companies from time to time. (Did you notice the word "support"?  That is how I justify spending money on treasures.  I'm "supporting" the global economy. You're welcome!) The spider web embossing folder is Darice and the washi tape with the Halloween words are all from the Eyelet Outlet (Which is one of my favorite vendors that go to my local expos/shows.)  All other products are SU! (Though the washi tape is retired.)

Paper:
Whisper White
Pumpkin Pie
Basic Black

Punch:  Spooky Bats Punch (page 51 of the 2018 Holiday Catalog)

Color Throwdown #508

I didn't find this color combo as challenging as I did last week!  This week's card is a sample for my November clubs using the SU! Country Home set. I had to do a little masking to get the greens inside the pot to tall as opposed to wide.

Stamps:  Country Home
Dies:  Stitched Shapes and Ovals
Embossing folder:  Layered Leaves

Paper:  Granny Apple Green, Whisper White, Gorgeous Grape

FMS #352

I had a few free minutes today and wanted to use the SU! Christmas Pines stamp set and the Pretty Pines dies that I will be featuring in my December clubs.  I love to have a few extra sample cards besides the ones we will do in class.  Shaded Spruce and Real Red are great combos for Christmas.

Color Throwdown 507

The aqua color was a bit of a challenge for me! I like to use the sketches to make sample cards for my upcoming classes and October's class is using the SU Halloween set Cauldron Bubble.  I guess the colors on this card are a bit untraditional, but they worked!

FMS #351

Getting in the mood for Halloween!  Though it is still warm and sunny and clearly still summer - which I love - the grocery stores had Hardy Mums on sale today which made me think that Fall is right around the corner.  Not sure I'm quite ready for that yet but I thought I'd get a jump on some Halloween cards for my October  Stampers Ten groups. (That's a hint ladies on what we will be doing in October - though this is NOT one of the cards we will do.)  Nothing cuter than a friendly ghost!

Color Throwdown 505

I just love this set from SU! - Animal Outing!  As soon as I saw that gray was one of the colors I immediately thought "elephant" but then I thought - a rhino will do!  Colors used were Basic Gray, Flirty Flamingo and Bermuda Bay. The flower dies are from the Detailed Deers die set in the 2018 Holiday catalog.  The stitched frame is from the August 2018 limited edition die set Stitched Seasons.

One would think with such a simple sketch that it would be easy to come up with an idea....sometimes it is....sometimes it isn't.  This time it was the latter!

Freshly Made Sketches #337

February 2018!!!!! I knew I'd been absent for a while, but didn't think it was that long! A three week road trip and babysitting duties have kept me busy. I've loved all the things that have kept my mind elsewhere, but I've missed creating - and sharing!

Here is my version of FMS 337 using some of the new goodies coming out in the Stampin' Up! 2018-2019 annual catalog new month.  Bet you can't wait to see it, if you haven't already!

Viva la Verve February 2018

Now this was a fun sketch!  Let me stretch my creativity a bit.  The flowers are from the SU! Tranquil Tulips Hostess set and the verse is from one of my favorite SU! sets - Flourishing Phrases.  I used Berry Burst, Peekaboo Peach and Pear Pizzazz card stock and the same for the ink with the addition of Crushed Curry on the orange colored blooms. The strip of DSP is from Painted with Love Speciality DSP in the 2018 Occasion catalog. Note the green hash lines....this was a boo boo that turned in a not too bad effect.  I accidentally got ink from the block on the rectangle stamped panel just as I was finishing up!  Since I would have started completely over I thought, what the heck - and added a few more lines. Not too shabby in my humble opinion!

Color Throwdown #480

While the baby sleeps, Gigi gets to play with her toys for a bit!  Stampin' Up! doesn't have a true lilac colored card stock so I used Wisteria Wonder and Perfect Plum for the purple component of this card. The swirly stamp is from the Falling Flowers set, the die cut of the flower is from the May Flower Thinlits, the sentiment is from the Hold onto Hope set and it is cut out with the matching die from the Cross of Hope Thinlits set.  The base card is Basic Gray. Oh, and how cute is the new basket weave embossing folder that I used on the right side of the card?  I know I'll get a lot of use from that folder for sure!  And the Basic Gray ribbon...one of the freebies from the Sale-A-Bration catalog.  It has a bit of shimmer in it - which I love!
