Gnome for the Holidays - Special Bundle offer

Gnome for the holidays!

Each year I say no more Halloween stamps! No more Christmas stamps!  And there I go breaking my own rule.  Gnome for the Holidays was just too cute for me to pass up.  For my Stampers Club members this is the card we will be doing in November.  I've created a bundle for all the supplies necessary to create this card.  If you purchase my bundle by October 28, 2020 I will give you a $10.00 gift certficate to be used for a future order.  The cost of the bundle before shipping/tax is $55.50.  Please use Hostess Code   RVT2UEJJ   to purchase the bundle.  The bundle includes all five items in the product list below.

Instructions to make the card will be posted after the order is placed on October 28.

*Please note - this offer is good for this demonstrator only and isn't a Stampin' Up! sponsored promotion.

If you're not a member of the Stampers Club please send me an email with your mailing address and I'll mail you the coupon! judibig@cox.com

What Every Beginning Stamper Needs

Alright, "needs" might not be the best choice of words - we "need" food, clothing, shelter, love....but y'all know what I mean!  I was going to send this info in an email to a new stamper (When asked during our first virtual meeting how long she'd been stamping she said seven minutes! She's definitely in the beginner category.)

The following are things, in my opinion, you just can't do without:

  • Sharp scissors (I have multiple pairs for different things but I always go to my snips for basic cutting.)
  • A paper trimmer
  • Double-sided adhesive
  • Quality white paper
  • Quality black ink (Memento - Dye ink and Versa fine Pigment ink are my favorites)
  • Acrylic Blocks (various sizes) or a Stamparatus -then you don't need any blocks as the Stamparatus takes the place of ALL blocks.
  • Ruler - I like to measure so I always have one handy.
  • Something to color with - colored pencils, watercolor pencils, alcohol markers, water-based markers, pastels.  Choose something that you LOVE to work with and can achieve good results with minimal effort.
  • Stamp cleaner - lots of choices, a stamp cleaning pad, old facecloth, shammy, baby wipes, paper towels.  Just a little bit of water on any of the above works fine.  If you need to deep clean your stamps you could always use Stampin' Mist.

When you want to ramp-up your game:

  • A die cut/embossing machine
  • Dies
  • Embossing folders
  • Punches
  • Various ink pads (check out my blog post from July 25, 2020 on Stampin' Blends. I would choose the same colors in ink pads as well.)
  • Lots and lots of paper

In Color Club September 2020 - Bumblebee

To me, the Bumblebee cardstock and the Crushed Curry cardstock are very similar.  And the Daffodil Delight isn't too far off. But look how great all the colors go together in the second card!

Friend

Base card:  Bumblebee 8 ½ x 5 ½ scored at 4¼ (portrait orientation)
First Panel: 2020-2022 In-Color DSP - Bumblebee (pattern may vary from photo) 5⅜ x 4 ⅛
Second Panel: Very Vanilla 5 ¼ x 4
Scraps: Very Vanilla

Stamps:  Forever Blossoms
Dies:  Cherry Blossoms and Stitched so Sweetly Dies
  • Cut the first panel from the 6x6 piece of In-Color DSP.  You have a choice!
  • For the second panel align in the center the largest Nested Label die. You will use the frame, but keep the label for another project! (You don't actually have the leftover piece - I used it in August!) Adhere the frame to the DSP and adhere the ribbon to the back of both pieces.  Adhere to the base card.
  • Stamp "Friend" with Magenta Madness on the smallest label from the Stitched So Sweetly dies.
  • Stamp the cherry blossoms with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a large scrap of Very Vanilla and cut out with coordinating die.  Set aside to dry for a bit.
  • When the ink is dry you are going to use the Stampin' Write markers to color the flowers. I used Bumblebee, Just Jade and Magenta Madness. (see below)
  • Once colored adhere to card as in sample. I adhered the bottom half of the flowers with regular adhesive and I put Dimensionals under the top half of the flowers.

Coloring with Stampin' Write Markers - watercolor style

Because Stampin' Write Markers are water based they will not blend if you put them directly onto regular cardstock.  What I do to add just a wee bit of color is this:
  • Stamp the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink
  • Using the large brush-point end of the marker, scribble a little bit of ink onto a non-porous surface. (I used an old CD but you can use anything - plastic lid, paint palette, silicon mat, etc.)
  • Using your Stampin' Up! Blender pen, pick up a bit of the ink from the palette of your choice and apply to the image as appropriate.
  • You need to be very light-handed.  This technique is meant to be quick. DO NOT go over an area repeatedly as the paper will pill and/or you will create a hole.
  • As an aside, you may use this technique on watercolor paper with a water brush or the blender pen. You may go over the area repeatedly as the watercolor paper is sturdier.

You Mean so Much to Me

Base card:  Bumblebee 8 ½ x 5 ½ scored at 4¼ (portrait orientation)

First Panel: Crushed Curry 5 ¼ x 4
Scraps: Very Vanilla

Stamps:  Forever Blossoms
Dies:  Cherry Blossoms and Stitched so Sweetly Dies

  • Emboss the Crushed Curry panel with Ornate Floral Embossing Folder.
  • Die cut the largest frame from the Stitched so Sweetly dies from a large scrap of Very Vanilla.
  • Stamp the cherry blossoms with Bumblebee ink on a large scrap of Very Vanilla and cut out with coordinating die.
  • Using the flowers as a guide, stamp "You mean so much to me" on the die cut Very Vanilla panel with Memento Tuxedo Black.
  • Adhere all as in sample.  Wrap the Daffodil Delight Ruched ribbon around all and then adhere to base card.
  • Add 2020-2022 In-Color Enamel Dots where desired.

Stampers Club - September 2020 - Featured Artist: Betty Walsh

Our first Featured Artist for the 2020-2021 Stampers Club is Betty Walsh.  Betty used all the supplies that I gave her to create this super pretty Thank You card using the So Sentimental stamp set.  The paper is the same paper that I used for our September card with the addition of a piece of Magic is this Night  DSP and a different plaid from the Plaid Tidings DSP.  Doesn't look Halloweenie at all!!  Thanks Betty for sharing your creativity!

I wasn't going to do a Halloween card this year but I just couldn't help myself!  As much as I HATE the 8 legged beasts that seem to seek me out no matter where I am, I am in awe of their ability to spin a web and I just think they are the coolest for Halloween decorations.  Hope y'all like this month's card!  (Oh, and check out the other samples I made using the same materials.)

Base card:  Pear Pizzazz 8 ½ x 5 ½ scored at 4¼ (landscape orientation)
Web embossed panel:  Gorgeous Grape: 4 x 5¼
Scraps: Whisper White, Basic Black and Plaid Tidings  (MC pg. 57)
Stamps: Hallows Night Magic (MC pg. 54)
Dies:  Halloween Magic Dies
Misc:  Glittered Organdy Ribbon (AC pg. 160)

  • Stamp sentiment with Memento Black ink on scrap of Whisper White. Cut out with smallest label die.
  • Die cut the largest of the labels from Basic Black.
  • Die cut the smallest label from the Plaid Tidings DSP.  With a paper trimmer or scissors cut through the center of the plaid label and adhere to the back of the stamped white label and then adhere both to the black label.
  • Emboss the Gorgeous Grape panel with the Cobwebs embossing folder. (MC pg. 53)
  • Adhere the ribbon to the back of the Gorgeous Grape panel and then adhere to base card.
  • Stamp spider on Whisper White and cut out with coordinating die.
  • Assemble as in sample. Spider is adhered with a Dimensional.
