Hinge-Step Stamping
- This technique is great if you would like a list of words or sentiments going either horizontal or vertical on your paper.
- You will place the stamp at the top of the paper with your plates in the top most position. Ink the stamp and then holding the plate at a 90 degree angle lift the plate straight up and then move the entire plate down to the next opening. There will be one empty hinge hole directly at the top. You will repeat this as many times as desired reinking the stamp every time you move the plate.
- If you would like your text/images to be vertical use the right plate. If you would like them to be horizontal use the top plate.
- If a word or image is small you may find the space between them is too great. Do one entire series of stamps and then putting the plate back to the top most position remove the stamp from the plate and put it between the first and second images (on the paper) and then close the plate. Repeat the hinge-step stamping to fill in the spaces.
